Logging In to ShaRCS Resources

Access to ShaRCS during the pilot phase of the project will be through login nodes specific to each cluster. One-time passwords (OTPs) will be required for access. Each authorized user will use a physical device called a CRYPTOCard to generate the required password. See details of the OTP process.

Based on the campus or organization, your project is assigned to either the North or the South cluster. A URL for each cluster is designated to handle login authentication. Login to ShaRCS via the following access points:

Campus or Organization Login Node Name
Berkeley, Davis, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Berkeley Lab (North Cluster)
Santa Barbara, San Diego, Irvine, Los Angeles, Riverside (South Cluster)

To log in, you will need an account based on an approved project, in addition to the OTP device or software. See the Getting Started Guide for more about obtaining accounts on ShaRCS resources.

A software token generator will be available for temporary and emergency use in the near future. This will allow you to log in without the use of a physical device. The software token option will only be available for temporary use while users are awaiting the delivery of a new CRYPTOCard, or if a damaged or failed card must be replace. At this time, only the hardware token option is available.
